Shimming scope

I've shimmed rear mounts temporarily to troubleshoot them a couple of times. I have a selection of kingpin shims from HD truck axles I use, .003, .005. .010, .020, just cut and trim to size and insert to see what happens, felkler gauge work too. Surprising how little it takes. There is a chart kicking around for iron sights and how much difference a few thou makes in frt or rear sight heights at 100 yds, maybe further, long time since I looked at it, probably more than one version around too, it helps explain the relationships, applies to scope bases too really, maybe not the same amounts, but, it's applicable theory.
