I would like to know which Courier (Canada Post; UPS, etc...) to use to send a bolt action rifle from BC to Ontario as well as what would be the most acceptable way to wrap (box) the item.
In addition to this, I would really appreciate it if those of you who have done this before have a general idea as to how much the cost might be?

Much appreciate the reply & suggestions from CGNers.

If you go to Canada Posts Web site you can go to the get a rate tab, punch in the dimensions and weight of your package as well as the postal codes of sender and receiver and you will get a price. I try to ship with the stock removed to make a shorter package I also remove the bolt. It is nice if you have the box the rifle came in but if not get some decent packing material Styrofoam or bubble wrap or even rags, package the rifle so it does not slide around inside the box and so the barrel or bolt doesn't poke through, I recently received a rifle from IRUNGUNS and it was loose inside a broken box and it wore some blueing off the barrel. I ship signature required and the price is usually between $25 and $50. As well as writing the destination on the box I put a piece of paper with the address inside the package.

I use Canada post with signature option. bubblewrap/newspaper and cardboard box.
You can use canada post website to calculate postage. Probably around $25-35 depending on size and weight.

your options that I am aware of are
Courier via CanPar or Greyhound. contents declared and must be in a secure locked container
or
Canada post parcel . you have no obligation and should not declare the contents. sturdy and well wrapped cardboard box or gun case does the trick.
you can't use Canada post express for firearms, parcel or expedited parcel only.

I couldn't get a used box anywhere. I got some SM from Home Depot and made a project out of it. ;)

$45 for shipping, $10 for box materials. nailed on the bottom . . . screwed on the top. CP Employees don't like getting slivers - protect the edges.
Never lost one and never had a firearm damaged.

If the rifle can be dismantled, keep you package shorter than one metre and that makes it cheaper.

Venture one gives expedited service for regular rate less 5% plus you get tracking and $100.00 insurance
