I have spent the better portion of this morning searching the net for answers. I am just confusing myself more.

Perhaps somebody can direct me to the info?

Not a complete rifle, just a part of it. I have an 1896 dated Lee Enfield receiver that a chap in the USA would like to buy.

Non restricted here in Canada, antique class in USA.

What is my responsibility at this end with regards to export?

Thanks!

You might want to be aware that the receiver is the firearm - not a firearm part. You are not trying to export a gun part from Canada to the USA, you are trying to export a firearm...

What I have determined from the RCMP is that a non-restricted requires no export permit. The receiver is a non restricted rifle.

At the other end, the receiving US party requires no import permit for a pre-1899 antique class rifle. The receiving party has to prove the age of the item.

The regs are different for commerce between countries other than Canada/US

It will be mailed to a dealer in USA who has an FFL and imports on a regular basis.

My question was regarding the receiver being just a part of an antique rifle. A barrel or other component might be different as the age and antique status could not always be easily be ascertained. The receiver is clearly marked with the 1896 date.

There is a myriad of import/export restrictions on the US side. Very confusing to me. Some people are having parts seized at US border. The regs have been in place for some time. But now they are being enforced with vigour by Homeland Security.

Hence the reluctance of US vendors to ship outside the country. Sometimes it is perfectly legal to sell and ship, however, a paper trail has to be made with permits in place. Just not worth the hassle for some.

Many US eBay sellers run the risk of being arrested and thrown in jail.
