Shipping a restricted firearm

As others have said depends on how far and what you get for insurance. I personally have always paid $30-40 from NS to anywhere with insurance.

I got charged a $5.00 fuel surcharge not that long ago that was the first time I seen that and I think it is about $1.30 per $100.00 for insurance and it depends how far you have to ship it.

I just sent one to Sask last week with insurance Express Post from Ontario and it cost me $56.00 bucks. However it was in a plastic case inside a box and it was a heavy gun.

I just paid $36 to ship with the same $1000 insurance from where I live to Halifax, which is only about 100km....I could think of better ways to spend my money lol

I just shipped across Canada and it cost $30. As a side note, it looks like the parcel has been stolen in Montreal, been there since last Thurs and Canada post is no help till the end of shipping date. I'm saying this as a reminder to wrap up the parcel in plain paper so no one can guess at the contents. Who would have thought someone in Montreal would steal mail?

I wouldnt necessarily assume its stolen or lost yet, its only been 4 business days since its been in MTL, sometimes Cpost is really slow. Ive had packages from out west take 2-3 weeks to get here many times.

If I'm sending a restricted firearm I always request Expresspost, insured and signature required. I don't like surprises and I want the buyer to receive their package asap. I'll pay more for a piece of mind but that's me.

it is easy, get the box with gun and all stuff in it, get measurements and go to canadapost.ca, check rates and input all info as zip codes and dimensions and weight, and you will get all options available.

My parcel was last scanned in Montreal Jan 31 and no other activity. It just showed up at the address so it was not lost/stolen. That is good news. I was worried about it being lost. Canada Post was not much help but they were right in the end.

Just go on to the Canada Post website and get a quote for yourself. All you need is the destination postal code. Be sure to check the Parcel Post rate AND the Express rate, as it may be cheaper to send Express if in a region closer to you. Be sure to have Signature required, as mentioned above and insure as required. Simple, and effective

I always ship expedited through my business account at CPC. It is as fast as express but costs the same as surface parcel. If you don't have a business, ask your postal outlet for a Venture One application and just make up the business. I have heard they don't actually care if it's real or not and is basically good for a 10% discount on most shipping.

By Canada post rules, last time I checked, a contract customer like Claven2 can use expidited w/ proof of age while regular folks must use regular parcel with signature option. I've had some really bad luck with canada post of late (including turning a kreiger barrel into a pretzel) so you don't want to give 'em reason to deny a claim.
