Has anyone ever shipped a firearm to the U.S. for repair or custom work? If so, who did you use to do the shipping?

Most US Manufacturers recommend UPS but I'd contact UPS first and see what they have to say about shipping a firearm into the US. I've had terrible luck with UPS. They said sure we'll ship it. Then a week and a half later it arrived back at my door with a note advising they don't ship firearms cross border.

Ended up driving to the US and using United States Postal Service. Of course I live close the US border and the firearm in question was a muzzleloader which in the US is not considered a firearm.

sheephunter,

I sold my old BRNO 375 to a gentleman in Florida a few years ago. He did all the paperwork on his end, and I filled out all the customs forms up here. He had to send me a form from his dealer to include in the package with the rifle, which I did.

Sent the rifle via Canada Post. I can't remember the exact service, however it was with tracking and insured for the full value of the transaction. The customs declaration indicating it was a firearm was on the outside of the box, and it arrived at his dealer fifteen or sixteen days later.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I've done all the paperwork and was just looking for a way to get it down there so yes, that helps a lot. Thanks again.

TJ, we are going to the border late this week for a firearms shipment. If you have the papers, we could take it across for you and ship from the US side. Not stuck in customs that way.
