Shipping Costs Now and Future

I just wanted to make a quick post so people can reference regarding shipping costs at the moment and what is in store for the future.

I get probably a dozen emails a day of people telling us "our shipping prices are out to lunch" "why does it cost so much" "just put a stamp on it and mail it" etc..

The reality is for us to drop a package in the mail and ship it across town it costs somewhere in the neighbourhood of 19-21 dollars for something like a magazine. We can not offer a non tracked mailing solution due to how many folks have tried to defraud us by saying they never received their packages.

On smaller items it can cost a large percentage of the actual item you are purchasing and in almost every case the shipping software is between 2-3 dollars of actual shipping cost.

We do our absolute best to make sure our pricing isn't over the actual costs to ship it. (and in a lot of cases we eat some of the shipping costs on the insurance).

Moving forward there is a new carbon tax being introduced by our fuhrer on Jan 1 and you can expect shipping to jump again shortly.

So moving forward we are always doing our best to offer the best service we can and I hope folks can understand that we are doing our best to make online purchases still affordable.

I have and always will whine about shipping prices, but if you ever want to blame the retailer on the other end please just go online and pull up Canada Post's shipping calculator. They don't have time for your BS. I just had to pay, taxes in, ~$27 to ship a 2x1.5x3" box weighing just 0.16kg.

Buy more things, fewer times. Make the shipping worth the cost. It's not that hard.

Shipping prices are absurd. Two years ago a 5x5x5 package from BC to BC was $15, now it's almost $30. I never used the flat rate boxes since it was cheaper to pack it myself, now they are the best option.

Even when using Netparcel, it's now more expensive than Canada Post.

I shipped an envelope with 4 pieces of paper in it to Ontario last month, cost me 28$. clerk at Canada Post laughs in disbelief and says this is getting ridiculous.

Merry HoHo to the fine folks at Wanstalls

I shipped a Chassis weighing about 2 kg from Ontario to Alberta recently, cost about $35 with tax, with surcharge, with signature required, with pick-up card, with $100 insurance.
I was just playing around on your website and your system quoted me $40 to ship a pair of ear plug from BC to ON?!

I cannot believe what you said about postage cost that incurred to you.

When people email you questioning the shipping cost, there must be something shady. I can confidently say your shipping cost is one of the highest if not the highest among all the gun dealers in Canada.
I can say that because I have shopped lots of firearm stuff over the last 2-3 years and just a couple of weeks ago most recently, literally from coast to coast (BC to NS).

That being said, Canada Post's postage is outrageous, but you are just scapegoating CP too

pm me your info and ill have a look. As the post says we do our best to make sure shipping costs are in line.

It doesn't matter that its a pair of ear plugs, its weight and size.

Have you tried using a shipping broker like freightcom? I just shipped a good size package to BC from ontario for 20 dollars using UPS through them.

There's a mystery barrier between Manitoba and Ontario that makes things more expensive somehow.

Just quoted a gsg16 privately to Ontario and it was 59$ uninsured and $79 insured it has definitely been going up this past year. I feel the pain. Private sales are pretty much toast for me.

I didn’t place the order so I don’t have any further information regarding that.
I added one pair of those ear plugs style muffler that you recently advertised thinking I might give them a try. But when I saw shipping quote about $43, I instantly closed the web browser. You can try it yourself, find an address in Ontario to see what the system quoted you.

If only one person complained to you that individual might be unreasonable, if as you said many times a day people raised the shipping costs concerns you should look at it more diligently. It couldn’t be all those people were unreasonable.

Many times people like me just walk away when they see outrageous shipping cost and don’t even bother to complain. That hurts your business

Don’t complain shipping s very expensive, fuel surcharges are high, 10in x 5in x 7in parcel weight 2lbs to Calgary $25.41. It’s the cost of buying!

Some people have NO clue what actual shipping costs....and how much some products have increased in price. AND utter BS again to generalize that you're paying full MSRP or above on all firearms for the past 2 years.... There are deals to be found - within reason of what the dealer actually PAID for the product.

I just bought my son a Sako S20 (that 3 years ago was still $2199) for $1629 from a sponsoring dealer on 29 November.

Sure some dealers would try make an extra buck, but mostly, it's the cost of products that have gone through the roof.

See what it cost 3 years ago to ship a 40ft container from Europe, and what that same container costs today - you will have a heart attack. To not even talk about Airfreight....

You're making gross assumptions here.... I shipped a small riflescope from Calgary to ON on 1 December. 14" x 4" x 4" box weighing 1.8 lbs with CP. Shipping was $30.82, Signature was an extra $2. Fuel Surcharge was $11.42 and HST was $5.75 for a total of $49.99 with ONLY the standard first $100 insured.

I also shipped a CZ455 .22LR to BC and because the box was over 100cm (109cm) and I added $800 in insurance, with "do not safe drop and signature" and the "oversize" fee, it was $93.11 so maybe don't just make a blind assumption. Shipping has become SERIOUSLY expensive.

I also use a large freight consolidator, and to some addresses in ON and QC I would pay $26 all in shipping a 6"x6"x6" box weighing 0.5lb, and just outside the large cities, that same package using the same consolidator with exact same dims it would be $47... it all just depends on WHERE it's going. The large cities are WAY cheaper sometimes than shipping to a town just 20km outside that same large city.

I ship 100 packages a week on average.

I've been shipping pistols to gunsmiths lately. About 26$ then $8 fuel surcharge gets added.

thank Trudeau.

Again without data to run through the software what you are saying I have nothing to go off. A shipment to downtown Toronto costs different then a shipment to Kirkland Lake
