Shipping Firearms

Canada Post, XPRESSPOST service. If it's a handgun, it will usually fit in one of the envelopes and it's insured and traceable online. You should always pay the extra $1.50? to have it delivered with "signature required" upon receipt.

This is actually a requirement under the FA act. Express Post is not required. You should definitely go for insurance though. As above less express post a full sized heavy rifle won't be any more than about $30 anywhere in Canada...

Over 40 inches has a oversize surcharge.
If you seperate the action and stock you can usually get it under the 40 inches. Plus the stock is less likely to break without the weight of the action in it.

Just a word of advise!
If shipping a long gun, make it as short as possible!
Remove butt stock & pack beside barrel, remove barrel (if possible) & pack beside full length stock!

Long thin packages can have a tendincy to have weight applied in the middle when mixed with other boxes which is NOT good for your firearm!

That's a good tip! Thanks - Jeff.
