I posted this in the "general" section but thought I'd try this here as well to see if anyone has done this.

Anyone tried shipping a gun or gun parts to the US for any kind of repair? If so, how did you ship? Any problems at all......either direction? Any advice???

I'm interested in shipping some gun parts to Cole Cuns in Maine for some work but I'm just a little nervous about doing so. Just wondering what the best route to go is????

send em to dlask arms in new westminster b.c. i get ALL my work done there, why bother with the hassle of sending stuff south. we have some of the best smiths in north america, right here at home.

got a website.....number....contact info for dlask?????? I may call them and see if they can do what I want done. never heard of them.

It depends on what you want done. I'm not sure that Dlask would be the best choice for most shotgun work. There are smiths in Ontario that you might want to contact including Steve Milton at Precision Arms and Stelios at SC Gunworks.

(I would post links but the powers that be have ruled that hotlinking to non-advertising dealers is forbidden. You can Google them or send me a PM and I'll forward the links).

What make of guns and what parts need repairing?

I've contacted that dlask co and they don't do what I want done.

Actually what I'm after is this. I saw a gun a little while ago that was totally dismantled by Cole's who then sent the bare receiver and other exterior metal parts to another company for a Satin finish hard chrome plating to be applied. The finished product was very impressive and I'd like to have the same done to my O/U. So that was the route I was contemplating taking. If I could get that done up here I'd certainly prefer it. Suggestions??

It may cause you some grief to ship to the US. You need to have someone in Canada with a Federal Firearms Licence to ship to the US and not necessarily with an Export/Import permit. Send me a PM and let me know what you would like to have done and I will see what I can do for you. One of the best guys up here is Steve Milton and he can pretty well handle anything that you throw at him.

Best regards,
Sam

Please see my latest post in the thread...if you haven't already. I explained what I'm hoping to have done there. If you have any suggestions....know anyone this side of the border who can do what I want....would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.
