I apologize if this has been talked about before but my searches did not yield any answers.
Who do you guys use for shipping guns across the country, especially now that Canada Post looks like they're going on strike? All of the usual shipping companies I've contacted say no guns. Please help

UPS will not accept firearms for shipment... they do offer the service but only to commercial accounts that ship "more than $100,000 annually" and with many other restrictions.

The only other carrier that will take non-contract shipment of firearms (besides Canada Post) is DHL but their rates are MUCH higher, then add a $30 dangerous/special goods handling fee on top of everything else, their insurance rate is twice what Canada Post is ($3.00 per $100) and they have a bunch of other charges and restrictions. We did a comparision between Canada Post and DHL for a handgun to a location (from Ontario to Ontario) and without insurance it was more than 3 times the cost. Other comparisions were as much as 10 times higher than Canada Post.

I was told by a customer service rep from a gunstore (a big one) that UPS would allow more firearm shipping during the CP strike.

I was also told by a CP employee at a management level that if they in fact go on strike, it wouldn't take more than a week or 2 for the government to pass a special law forcing them back to work.

I'm in the middle of a rifle sale right now.
I had previously got a price from CP of about $30 from BC to ON.
I just checked the DHL site and got a price of just under $70 for the same. And I wasn't even aware of the "dangerous goods" surcharge!

This is a question best answered by the numerous whiners who complain how poor Canadapost service is, you know, the guys that when a gun's one day late start a cry for attention thread. They claim that all others shipping means are far better, and could provide a list I'm sure.

I can only suggest that you wait it out and be patient.

Im not too sure about shipping firearms but i do work in transport so some compagnies you might want to try are canpar(as mentioned), maybe Quick-X, fedex, Ics or Dynamex, if not then wait it out with CP

Greyhound doesn't ship guns either and dont provide any manner of shipping insurance.
Looks like as much as people complain about canada post they are about the only ones that allow shipping guns by individuals.

Whatever is IN the box is technically rendered irelevant by the privacy act. As long as its not marked in any way stating that its a firearm, then it is illegal for them to question its contents unless they have reason to suspect that its somthing dangerous. Just ship it and state its a tool or a car part, or for that matter you dont have to state that its anything at all. Pretty sure nobody (including me) has any problems doing it this way. I used to deliver UPS, and picked up firearms constantly from local dealers. (that im sure do not send more than 100,000 anually)
