Shipping guns - Who will you use?

What's the fact? Canada post locks out its employees, or the employees choose not to wirk.

The teachers in my kids' school decided to not work, their cardboards wrote: "locked out by the government". A bunch of liars

Are couriers allowed to ship firearms? I asked the CFC when I sold a pistol recently and they said it had to be Canada post.

If others are allowed that's awesome.

Purolater have been quick and thoroughly efficient for me when I cannot use Canada Post.
Otherwise it's the good old Post Office, one of the local Postie clerks is a gun nut.

Puro is the safest with a chain of signature, it's what we use at work everyday to ship restricteds. Canpar works too but can be a bit more rough on occasion with packages, only use them for non res.

Regardless of what the RCMP says, that does not make it a law... The laws in regards to firearms are contained in the firearms act, which states:

Shipping by Post

16 An individual may ship a firearm by posting it only if

(a) the firearm is a non-restricted firearm, restricted firearm or prohibited handgun;

(b) the destination is within Canada; and

(c) the firearm is posted using the most secure means of transmission by post that is offered by the Canada Post Corporation that includes the requirement to obtain a signature on delivery.

So, shipping by means other than Canada Post is illegal......

Got this off the Purolator website ``terms and conditions`` updated July 1st 2016

Purolator will not accept the following articles for carriage as
Courier Shipments within Canada, unless the Customer has
received prior written approval from Purolator as evidenced by
a duly executed Services Pricing Agreement or other written
record setting out the pre-approved article(s) to be transported:

(vii) Firearms or weapons of any kind
(including parts thereof ).

An individual does not include dealers or other institutions, I think. So if a person sells a firearm to another person, go to Canada Post. If Cabelas or Prophet River sells firearms, they can choose Loomis express.

Because dealers establish corporate accounts which include their licensing and bonding documentation etc... individuals have not and cannot provide the documentation to meet the requirements of the shipper... I have run into this many times and have used my LGS to complete transactions where the seller could not or would not use Canada Post to ship.
