I have some extra supplies of some powders and would like to sell them or trade with them. I've tried to learn the regs re shipping powders and have seen UPS and Purolator as the only two options for shipping powder in Canada. Do I have this right? For those who've shipped powder or primers, what has your experience been? Are the shipping charges for powder astronomical--maybe too high to make it reasonable for a pound or two?

Pretty sure the only way to ship it with any courier is if you have a business contract. This is what UPS and Purolator replied to my inquiries. Easiest way to disperse it is through your closest auction house or find a local buyer.

You list your location as Vancouver, I can only assume there is a LOT of people near-by that would be willing to drive for a local pick up. It'd be a different story if you listed your address as North Blackfly Lake, NWT or similar

LOL. You may be right, but I often wonder about how many Vancouver-area shooters there really are. I think I'll take your advice and try for a local trade.

38 Million Canadians of which 2.2 million have a PAL (17.27% of the population)
5.07 million BC residents of which 315,000 have a PAL (6.21% of population)

Seems Canada as a whole and BC as a whole have similar PAL rates. Google tells me there are 2.8 Million people in "The Lower Mainland", so I could estimate that there is as many as:
2,800,000 x (0.06) = 168,000 firearms owners in the LML. Let's say 10% of firearms owners reload? I bet one of those 17,000 people would love to buy your primers and powders :p

(Why, yes I do have too much time on my hands. What makes you ask that? lol)

EDIT: LPSStealth correctly pointed out my math sucked.... edited to correct

Maybe not quite enough time? More people in the the lower mainland own rifles than all of bc. Yet I live on the other side of the province and own rifles

Oops.... turns out you ask a coal miner to do math and you get some interesting results. Edited post to correct!

Well, us union thugs do need to remove our shoes and socks to count the fingers on our hands ;)
