COURSE DESCRIPTION
Extreme Close Quarter Concepts:

The ShivWorks Extreme Close Quarter Concepts (ECQC) course is a two and a half day (20 hours) block of instruction which focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach to building functional, combative handgun skills at zero to five feet. The course is designed to instill core concepts of seamless integration and provide the platform for aggressive problem solving during a life or death struggle. A heavy emphasis is placed upon commonality of body mechanics between skill sub-sets, which means that all combative software is reinforcing. Once the student’s skill sets are initially ingrained, the participant will be stress inoculated with force on force drills utilizing marking cartridges and protective equipment.

Topics covered include:

Day One (4 hours):
- Criminal Assault Paradigm
- Unequal Initiative Events
- Managing Unknown Contacts
- Practical Unarmed Combat or In-Extremis Knife modules

- Building the #2 position in live-fire
- Firing throughout the horizontal line of presentation
- Off-hand fending positions

- Theory of in-fight weapon access
- Grounded basics

Day Three (8+ hours):
- Challenging the potential attacker
- Preemptive weapon access
- Multiple attackers
- Negotiating the F.U.T.
- ECQ Handgun retention in holster
- ECQ handgun retention out of holster
- Handgun recovery
- Handgun striking

Weapon & Gear Class Requirements:
- Reliable handgun

You know I'm in for this, right? My teeth are all wired up and locked in.

Good to hear..!!

I'm hoping this course will still be able to proceed, but I still don't have enough committed people/funds, to ensure it goes ahead.
I'll be issuing a 'final call for funds', in the next week or two (too those who have sent me an email..) with a due NLT date of late October...

Seriously?

Guys, this is THE most important defensive training course being taught today. Applications range from civilian personal defense to ERT assignments.

It includes serious force-on-force training in BAD situations designed to mimic most common criminal assaults. This is "deal-with-the-worst-case-scenario" stuff.

People who miss out on Craig's training are SERIOUSLY missing out.

A brief update.

Please note that this course IS proceeding, in spite of the low enrollment numbers. That being said, I need to have all the course funds in place by 31 Oct (happy Halloween..!!), to ensure I can meet the commitment to Shivworks.

Anyone else you think might have an interest in this type of course, please forward the info along. This may be the last time ATS is able to host this course for awhile, so if there’s wobblers out there, I’d encourage them to get off the fence.

Those requiring an invite, for your ATT, please contact me, and I’ll get one off to you.

Obviously, with the lower student #’s, you should all have an idea of what that means, for some fantastic one on one training, with one of the best in the business.

Look forward to seeing you on the course, and please contact me, if you have any questions.

I'm committed to this. I'll be back from rotation just in time. Am I going to be kicked in the nuts? I don't own a cup. Will multiple layers of maxi pads work? Being facetious here. But seriously...

Just for clarification, will there be any fixed blade work or purely ecqc with pistol.
Will this be moving indoors at night? Do we need wml?

I survived one year without a cup. I don't recall ever using a wml.

Fixed blades are kind of an optional experience as I recall. You can use a trainer during some of the h2h segments. But I don't recall any specific edged weapons training in ECQC although I'm certain Craig would answer questions about his approach to stabbing dudes.

A cup and mouth guard are recommended........

The evening portion of the course will be held on the indoor range, and does not involve firearms, so no WML required. For the 4hr live fire modules on Sat/Sun, run your gun the way you normally would, but bring a regular G17 holster (no WML), if you have one, as well.
