Shockey's Gold Powder

Does anyone have any experience with this powder?

What is best to use, loose powder or the pellets?

I have researched it. It is crap. Inconsistant burns. You are much better off with 777.

Now, I'll tell you that I don't like 777 so went back to black instead. The 777 caused me more troubles with cleaning problems and it is more difficult to make up loads for the large capacity cartridges that I shoot. Someone must have used JS's Gold and have some experiences to share. For cartridges I would have to use loose but for hunting nothing beats the pellets. Dave

I have also spoken to my local hunting shop, who don't recommend it to anyone. The packaging sucks. The sticks are often broken.
Yes, black powder is filthy. But that is the nature of the beast.

if your using it in cartridge BP guns, try 5744

I tried it pre-Shockey - when it was call "Clean-shot". It was poopy then, too.

Nothing has changed - except the label.

If you still want an inline ML, but don't care for the cleaning regime, maybe go smokeless with a Savage.

Even if it was good, I wouldn't use it because his name is on it. I have never read so much dribble in my life, as what he writes. He swings with the money and has no problem lying through his teeth, or he is stupid, take your pick.
