I bought the SPX version of the 590 Shockwave and decided to put a stock on it. I bought the SGA Receiver Sling Mount to go with the stock as well as a GG&G ambi looped front sling mount. I had the Minox RV 1 sitting unused so now it finally has a home.

Looks good! But its never complete =D want that heat shield! I would see an xs sight at the barrel end instead of the bead, gonna look much better

Nicely done, +1 for the xs big dot front sight.
And , if I might suggest, replace the stock/receiver sling point with a qd cup in the stock , the farther back you run the rear sling point, the easier it is to use with the gun shouldered, and you can still use it single point with such a short barreled set up .
I like the magpul ms sling, myself, very easy to switch back and forth to and from 2 point to 1 point .
The magpul para clip will work with you GG&G front sling point.
YMMV.

There is no way you can get a solid cheek weld and have a true line of sight with the red dot with the sight that far forward and the cheek rest that low. You need to buy the cheek riser kit . There is no point in shooting a shotgun that you may shoulder but your line of sight changes if you dont have your cheek welded properly. Otherwise the shot will change at the target every time and nothing consistent...

I thought the point of a red dot was that whatever the dot is on has a really bad day regardless of how you look through the thing, I may be way out to lunch though

Ya but you can look at a dot from the sides or if your head is moving freely like if you used a bird head grip and didn't have a stock. The point is to get a proper cheek weld so shots are consistent

You'll experience a bit of parallax but your shots will still go where the dot is. There just won't be enough deviation to affect something like a shotgun.

Hogue doesn't make a forend for the shockwave

Thanks for pointing that out, looks like it would have to be custom modified to fit....

Cheek weld is crucial on a bead sighted shotgun when shooting clays or birds but for a short defensive gun and a red dot it's not that big of a deal shooting with the head up.

A cheek weld is absolutely not needed with a red dot or ghost rings. I use a low riser specifically because heavy clothing can get in the way when you have it set up for a solid cheek weld. A defensive shotgun is not for printing sub moa groups, it's for putting rounds on target and stopping a threat quickly at short range. A small amount of sight misalignment doesn't matter under those circumstances, the difference on target is trivial. Happy to see your shotgun coming together KDX. The 14" 590 is my favorite short pump. Mine is approaching gucci status with this years round of mods. Next step is cerakote once I pick a color and order some product.

OP, I like what you did with that SPX version. However I’d much prefer iron sights myself.

Wish I could get a heatshield for mine :sok2

Looks good, but how does the web of your hand feel under that Mesa stock adapter after many rounds?
