Shoot surplus 7.62x39 out of a bolt gun?

Some modern bolt guns are suited to the harder surplus primers, others are not. Zastava, for example.

I have a bolt gun 7.62x39, the lacquer on the surplus makes them stick, (maybe be caused by better chamber sizing than military, just a thought) every shot won't extract, have to use push rod to get out, non lacquered no problem, this is what I have found.

I believe that the Dominion LCW is the same stuff that the Ukrainian military uses. It's just packaged and sold to civilians as well as made for the military.

I have used Czech Surplus, LCW & Barnaul out of my CZ527 and have had no issues, with reasonable good accuracy (ie 2" or less at 100 yards).

I've been told that for the zastava's brought in through the states this is correct, but if it was imported directly to Canada, that batch were made with stiffer springs to work with surplus.

Lacquered steel cases in 7.62x39mm and others calibres are not suited to any tight chamber bolt action rifles, the problem happens when the lacquer partially melts on firing especially around the shoulder and neck and then rapidly re-hardens inside the chamber and sticks to the sidewalls. It does not help that the steel cases expand but do not contract again as much as the springer brass cases do. This is not so much a problem with military semi-autos like the SKS and SVT-40 as they have very forceful ejection and the case is still hot and the lacquer has not hardened completely again before it is ejected.

Stick to brass or copper/zinc washed steel cases with bolt guns and you will be fine with any surplus or Russian/Chinese newer ammo, keep the lacquered ammo only for semi auto guns.

I had to install a heavier spring in my Rem 788 bolt so it would shoot surplus. With the original spring, it was 50% misfires with surplus.

I have a supply of virgin empty steel cases. When I load them, I find the cse won't extract if I open the bolt immediately. If I wait about 5 seconds, the bolt opens easily. I have assumed it has something to do with heat.
