I started out with the trigger trap technique, based on my shooting an AR-15 for long range precision, where I believe it was helpful to follow through by maintaining the trigger to the rear. But at some point in my work to pick up speed with a semi auto handgun, I no longer even am conscious of the trigger reset, it happens while the trigger is forward, not as I deliberately let off it. After taking up the slack again, about all I'm conscious of is acquiring the (next) target and the gun going off.
