is it safe to shoot slugs through a full choke? I've heard people say its fine and others say its not safe because of over pressure or something.

anyone know?

Not sure but, anecdotally when I was younger before knowing any better I used to shoot 3" slugs through my Remy 870 turkey with an extra full choke on.
I'm still here, although one of the older fellows at the range stopped me after twenty or so rounds, with a bruised shoulder and only a couple of hits on paper. He suggested I may want to invest in a rifled choke if I'm going to be using slugs and to tuck the shot gun properly into my shoulder ect.
So I wised up and spent the very few dollars it actually cost and went out and bought a rifled choke for slugs.
My accuracy has improved substantially since then when shooting slugs.
Thanks crusty old bullseye guy who wasn't to nice but gave good advice anyways!

Depending on the year of manufacture of shotgun, say older than 1910 or after, most of the slugs today are safe to shoot thru any choke. You just won't get as good accuracy out of a full choke or you might, every gun is different. I/C is more ideal but if full is all ya got then giver you'll just get a bit more kick/recoil. The slug (Foster) is designed to squeeze thru any choke. I've done it with 12,16,20 & 410 and stll have both eyes & all my digits.

Only the very tightest chokes will give you any trouble. It is completely safe to fire a slug through a gun in good condition with a full or most any choke. This should be a sticky...

+1 on making this a sticky. It seems to come up even more often than the "bullpups are prohibited" myth over in the black rifle forum.

yes the ribs or finns on rifled slugs are there to help the slug fit down the full choke barrels .thy are soft and will crush to fit nicely down the barrel thru the full chke DUTCH

Referring to the stock style where the trigger group is forward of the action. Like the FAMAS from France, Steyr SUG, or like the stock kits you used to be able to buy for the Ruger 10/22 or Mini 14/30.

Back to the matter at hand. I guess slugs will swage down to poke their noses out of a full choke, but I wouldn't do it. I get images of Elmer Fudd and the peeled back barrel.

OH, and I agree with the first reply by SparkyWonderDawg... bullseye guys are crusty with no personality. You would be too if all you shot was paper hanging by a clothespin, five shots at a time, over, and over, and ove...zzzzzzzzzz
