I like shooting abroad (mostly at Uncle Sam's) and was updating my 2024 paperwork like Form 6NIA, ATTs. While doing so it was rumored to me that is was no longer required to get an Import license from Global Affairs Can. to return with our restr/prohib toys.

Upon investigating the matter I fell on this "Notice to Importer No. 1106" and I conclude it is TRUE as of December 15th 2023.

Excerpts for your convenience:

"Export and Import Permits Act

Serial No. 1106
Date: December 15, 2023

Notice to Importers No. 1106 – Importation of restricted handguns into Canada

...
As a result of Notice 1106, Notice to Importers No. 1190 is no longer in place...

...Import Permits:

Import permits are not required for the re-importation of lawfully registered handguns by individuals holding a possession and acquisition licence (PAL) and registration certificate..."

Et voila, Import license from Global Affairs is no longer required.

Hoping the above useful to travelling-cross-bordering fellow gunners.
