Shooting at moving targets

Hey guys

I was wondering if any of you have certain techniques to figure out how much lead you must allow for when shooting at moving targets, or if you know of books that break down and explain this subject.

Fairly simple math gets you close. Speed of the target, distance of the target, average bullet speed. Get your time of flight, say .5 second, then from the speed of the moving target you figure how far it gets in that .5 second. Is the target going with or against the wind...

Sometimes instinct does surprising things.

I learn from experience. skeet #4 position clay bird 20yds away, lead with #8 shot 4'. deer running 40rods away, lead with rifle 6'.

Depends how fast they are running and if zig-zagging
