Hey CGN,

I am just getting my feet wet into PRS style shooting and would like some feedback on some shooting bags. I know the Armageddon Gear Game Changer OG seems to be a pretty popular option but have also had an eye on the Shmedium bag being the size right in the middle. The only thing I don't know if I like is the weight of the Shmedium coming in at I think 8lbs vs the 3 or 5lb option of the game changer OG.

What is everyones thoughts on practical size on most barricades between the OG and Shmedium? Can fill be taken out of the Shmedium to lighten it up? And is there any other brand of bags I should consider (ie. WIEBAD)?

Thanks in advance for all insight!

I don't currently shoot much PRS, but when I did, my Wiebad Mini Fortune Cookie treated me really well.

Small footprint, not overly heavy, and about ~90-95% stability of a larger and heavier bag. On some props it may be a bit more desirable to have a bigger bag, but a big bag will also suffer on some props.

If you want one bag, IMO I would go on the slightly smaller size for versatility. People really are liking the waxed canvas options available today.

Rugbydave should have some good insights on this topic for you.

Shmedium heavy fill. This has proven itself in my experience and comparisons to provide a more stable sight picture (less wobble) than other bags. 10lb is a pain, but worth it for the extra hits.

Late this season I switched from a OG GC to a waxed Shmedium heavy. The OG worked well, but the heavy fill conforms and settles better.

Get a heavy-fill Schmedium. The heavy fill is both more stable and quicker to settle than the fill in the OG Gamechanger. I compared an OG side by side with a Pint-size heavy fill and a Pint-size filled with Git-lite a few years back. The heavy fill settles faster and has less wobble. The Schmedium is a better size than the Pint-size as the Pint-size is sometimes just a bit too small. With practice you can learn to shoot sub-moa groups in all positions under tight par times with a heavy bag. It seems dumb to drag around a 10lbs bag but PRS is a game and a heavy bag is the answer, haha.

If you see guys at the range or a match with different bags ask them if you can try them out.

Armageddon, Weibad, Warhorse all make great bags and Accessories.

Cliff Reasor started it all with the OG Gamechanger.
A few manufacturers followed suit and made their own variations and sizes.
Bags can also be had with lite weight fill and heavy fill. All depends on your preferences.

I have a Gamechanger style bag and a Warhorse Comanche bag. Personally I prefer the Warhorse bag.

I have found that I carry less bags into the field and try to keep weight/bulk down.

For the most part I take my Warhorse Commanche and my Wiebad Pump Pillow into the field.
I never thought I would use/buy a pump pillow and laughed at the idea, but it is really handy filling voids and supporting in awkward field positions ( I can hear Rugby Dave laughing....lolol.). ;)

I'm not gonna say I told ya so, hahah

Thank's guys I appreciate all the good feed back on the shooting bags. I will defiantly ask around at the range and maybe go into a few stores to get some hands on with some different bags and see which one feels right.

One thing you will probably find is that the shooting bag rabbit hole is a rather deep one...

I don't know how many shooting bags I have. I have many different rear bags, a few bags that are in the "pump pillow" category, and a mini and standard FC barricade bags.

Big ones, small ones, light ones, heavy ones.

One can be really effective with just two bags: a good rear bag and barricade bag. But it can be an iterative process trying to find out which ones work best for you.

I got some 'poly beads' from Michaels craft store, they use 'em for stuffed bears like Jerry said. More pricey than gravel  = $16.99 - IF YOU take a 30%-OFF with CODE - 20230202 . http s://canada.michaels.com/en/pellets/10400911.html Comes in 907g bag, which 'almost' filled an Amazon rear bag (the larger one, not the ears) http s://www.amazon.ca/Shooting-Rest-Bags-Construction-Accessories/dp/B08XJ3DRW5/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2JDNO2R2I61VJ&keywords=rifle+rear+bag&qid=1690311193&sprefix=rifle+rear+bag%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-4
