I just bought a 500 mag S&W performance center 10.5" barrel with a muzzle brake, have anyone shot both jacketed and cast bullets from this gun? I am presently casting C501-440-RF from a lee mold for my handi rifle.

You'll need to clean your barrel and chambers when switching between cast and jacketed. And I'm sure you already know this but you'll have to shoot a gas checked bullet.

My S&W 500 came with two types of brakes. One is for jacketed and other is for cast bullets.

Also I shoot non gas checked bullets all the time with no bad results at all.

There are 2 different muzzle brakes used on the 500, one is removeable and the other isn't.

Your info is incorrect. My 500 S&W came with two brakes and I bought it new. As I stated before, one is stated to be used for cast bullets and the other is stated to used for jacketed bullets.

he is right and wrong, there is many different type of brakes for the 500, but the one that is removable has 2 versions it ships with. the rest ship with non removable ones like mine.

with regards to cast bullets i shoot a mix of gas checked and non gas checked without any issues.
