Shooting Clubs and Kids

It seems weird to hold a BBQ at a shooting range, and then not want any shooting to go on. Especially if you were outside and they were inside. :confused:

I'd be a little put out too, but I guess it depends on who told you no. Maybe it was someone who wasn't affiliated with the range and didn't know any better? Either way, I'd be talking to whoever runs the place and finding out what the deal is.

That would be my guess as well.

If they want the range closed for a special event, then it should be posted well in advance. That's what our range does.

Thats what our range does except for about 3 Sundays ago. I checked the websight to make sure nothing going on. Drove the hour out to the range and got all set up. No the 22 guys are haveing a shoot and I cann't fire anything bigger than 22. I didn't say anything but man was I pissed. George said they didn't want me to shoot because there were kids there. News flash, its a F....n gun range. Sorry about the rant but it ruined my Sunday. Normally all events are posted and everything runs smooth.
 
yeah it is a shooting range and all the little ones should be wearing ear protection(if that was the reason) and be supervised at all times
 
Whenever there are kids at our range, they get an orientation to the various in bounds and out of bounds areas around the complex.
They are supervised at all times, and all thingss are good!

We don't allow unsupervised children on any of our ranges, and all aduults are given a quick "once over" explaining the basic rules, etc.
Kids are ALWAYS welcome to shoot with anyone there , it is a very freindly club!:D

1. You asked for permission before, rather than forgiveness afterwards.:rolleyes:

2. You asked WOMEN to agree to you doing something.........:p

You are a club member and you have a right to shoot there, seems pretty straightforward to me. You have no duty to supervise kids who are inside when you are shooting outside - if those are the details, as I understand them.......

whenever there are kids at our range it's usually because I brought them there,to shoot(well not for me to shoot,so they can shoot),so I can't say we ever have that kind of problem.

Usually, those two statements are rolled together. For example, "Yes dear, I did buy another rifle (scope, or whatever)...I am sorry." You might catch hell for a while, but you still have a new rifle.:eek::D

Not to mention that you PAID DUES to use the facility. members should be made aware of Non-shooting times well ahead of the actual day.

Id bring it up at the next meeting or fire an email off to the president.

AND demand your dues back for that day even if its $1.20
 
I think that cdngunner has an excellent suggestion, in contacting the club president. I am guessing that:

a. The president had no idea this happened; and

b. The women had no authority whatsoever to tell Norm that he could not shoot.

If I were the president, I would surely wish to know about this incident, and would want to make sure my club member was happy. And I would probably want to have a word or two with those women who were ordering my club members around......:rolleyes:

.....assuming, of course, that the women were in error and that I the president had not failed to let my club members know about a no shooting day...... Both assumptions may be false, but the person who can tell you that is the president! Good call cdngunner!
