I need to ask you guys what glasses you use for IPSC/IDPA shooting?
Last two years I used Oakley Half Jacket XLJ.
They are OK, for that kind of coin I would expect something better.
During long days shooting they feel tight.

What is your glasses choice?

What do you think about Rudy Project?

Thanks

I have a question about eyeware. Not to hijack the thread but what do guys with prescription eyeware do? I have always just worn my glasses while shooting but I assume you need some sort of certified saftey glasses. Am I right?

I use yellow tinted industrial glasses fitted with prescriptions. cam1936 you can buy the glasses at most industrial equipment sotres. They come with a set of lenes that can be sent off to be ground to your prescription. I went to my optomitrist and had them do a prescription so my focus point want where the front sight would be. I word of warning though only have your dominent eye done that way with the other lens your normal prescription.

For the OP you can get the same glasses without prescription lens as well if you don't wear glasses. They are very comfortable and provide excellent eye protection.

Take Care

Bob

Oakley M-Frame
I like the Rudy's good warrenty behind them and they sponsor a USPSA Team, I think Double Tap sports has them.
It pretty much comes down to personal preference/taste. They both offer the protection and lense clarity & accuracy far above that of canadian tire safety glasses.
I've been using M-Frames at work for the last 3 years and won't go back to the free Uvex glasses the shop supplies. They are way more comfortable and the lense stays clean and clear longer. I used to go thru a pair of uvex's every month and a half because the lense would get blurry. I've replaced my Oakley lense once, mostly because it was an old shooting lense

Sunbusters are good, as are Rudy's. Walmart ones will do as will lowered priced units, just make sure they have some type of impact rating.
I like my Rudy's,....kinda expensive but comfortable.

i use these

When I was at WSXV, I tried on one of the Rudy Project glasses that the entire Phillipines Team uses (Rudy Project Rydon). I bought a set the next day. Last year, I bought a backup set (for emergencies when you lose them or whatever) as well as the Polarized, ImpactX, Photochromatic lenses. They're awesome. I love them. I am going to be buying a 3rd set that I will use just for cycling/summer sports.

Plus, with the USPSA discount, you get them for 40% off.

I bought my first pair of Rudy's this fall, and after years of using Oakley's I won't be going back. Didn't want to spend the money but wasn't happy with Oakley's durability anymore and most of the other cheaper stuff tend to give me headaches. Turns out the Rudy's are actually worth the money. Really well made and super comfortable, with photochromic and impactX lenses, durable frames....absolutely great. They will do prescription lenses also. Got them through Double Tap.

For standard sights I have a pair of clear prescription safety glasses with stainless frames. Large lenses for great coverage and they can be adjusted high so you aren't looking through the frame when shooting from prone.

ESS Ice are pretty decent multi-lens kits also for considerably less money (around 30 bucks), though not in the same class as the Rudy's.

The M-Frames dig into the side of my head...quite uncomfortable after a day on the range...although I do like the field of view they have.

I ordered the Project Rudy Rydon set...probably the most comfortable sun glasses I've owned.

Another vote for the Rudy's.
Picked up the Rydon shooters pack last year (four sets of lenses), very happy with them.

I ordered them on line, and found out later that I could have gotten them for the same price if not better from Josko @ Double Tap Sports.

I love my Rudy's!

So much so, that I usually wear my Oakley M-Frames on indoor ranges, and let the M-Frames catch all the little pit marks from crap coming back at me off the back-stop.

The Polar 3FX™ Racing Red lenses are awesome on the Rudy's.

Crap, that's a good idea. I still have those M-frames sitting there; might as well pound on them.
