I went and blasted off my 14" Dlask 870 with wilson Trac-loc sights yesterday with slugs and had a problem. I was shooting Remington Hi-vel 3/4 oz. slugs and they printed 8" high at 50m with the rear sight at the lowest position. Could I expect a lower p.o.i with slower slugs or is my rear sight mounted to high? Anyone else have a similar problem? Mark

I went and shot 6 other types of slugs yesterday with the same result. How far forward of the back of the receiver are your Trac-locs mounted? Mine looks like it follows the contour well. I can't imagine it mounted anywhere else.

move the back site all the way to the bottom.

The back of my sight base is .325" from the end or the reciever. Without adjusting them out of the box that put me dead on with slugs at 35m.

I think I figured it out. I had already tried to put it in the lowest position when I was trying to sight it in. The rectangle that the aperature bolts into was preventing it from moving back. I removed about 3mm and reassembled it and now it sits lower. Thanks for the ideas and listening to me fumble through this. The deer are in trouble on monday now for sure!

The front sight is your problem.

It was designed to be mounted on an 18" - 22" barrel.

True. Wilson Combat/Scattergun Technologies have a special front sight specifically for 14" barrels... and it costs a fortune. Pound for pound, tritium must be the most expensive element on the planet.

That maybe true but, you're not mounting a pound on the front of your gun.

No problem with mine on my 14" barrel but it was already attached. Perhaps mine was the propper one for a 14" barrel?
