Hi, I've been looking for places to go shooting in the lower mainland with my brother, we both hold valid pal/rpal licenses, and I was looking to just go out set up a few targets and have a good time. The area I'm looking at is from 96th to 76th Avenue In Delta. I know a lot of people come here to hunt, and the map made by the Ministry of Forests, Land, and Natural Resource Operations says that the use of Firearms here is permitted, I just want to double check so I can avoid any unnecessary trouble or do I need to hold a hunting license to shoot there? Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Do you mean 96 to 76 STREET? In any course many of those areas are NO SINGLE PROJECTILE.

It is basically for hunting only, you will need Special Fraser Valley Hunting Permit and Special Insurance from BC Wildlife Federation. They can be bought at your local hunting store. I would not do unnecessary shooting unless hunting there. This area was under heavy pressure from few special interest groups to ban all hunting there because of Snow Owl presence there. It made local TV News and was in Vancouver Sun. The whole matter was only put to sleep because hunting friendly biologist from UBC made argument that snow owls there are only there in such numbers thanks to duck hunting. Due to heavy swamps there it is not possible to recover all birds shoot so Snow Owels have very good source of extra food from uncollected birds

It's not for target shooting its for hunting only you need the following

Insurance, Hunting Tags, Hunting license, and only Fraser Valley Hunting permit which shows you bought insurance ect.. If you use a regular firearm (rifle or 22lr) Can do 22lr in some areas. You will be breaking the Delta bylaw. It states for hunting only you need to leave city limits or goto a range to shoot.

It's kind of silly in Delta sometimes talked to 1 farmer I hate the snow Geese they ruin my crops and drive me nuts I said well I could hunt them if you want and they will leave your field alone. No I don't want to shoot them. That's why they all pile on his yard and no one else's because they hunt them and they know it.

The place most people go is Syvester road once you leave city limits you can shoot make sure you look up were city limits end that way you won't screw it up it's a rough gravel road.

You never know what you will find there... ie heres a random video on youtube of people shooting in that area.

In Delta one can only hunt with steel shot, 100 yds from the dyke towards the water. (or with permission on private land)
Target shooting is expressly prohibited.
