Hi all, first time poster, long time stalker.

I'm looking to go target shooting/plinking in Boundary Bay today, but I'm a little unclear as to the wording of the Fraser Valley Special Area Hunting Map as it pertains to Boundary Bay.

First up is: Provincial Non-Toxic Shot Only Zone - No Target Shooting Outside ALL Dykes in Delta

What exactly is "outside all dykes" in this context?

Second: The dykes of Boundary Bay Linear Park are closed to hunting. However, the Metro VancouverParks prohibition for the possession of firearms is specifically exempted from toe to toe of the dykes in the Linear Park.

Closed to hunting, okay, as I'm just target shooting this is a non-issue. What I really would like to know is what is "toe to toe of the dykes in the Linear Park".

Any help would be appreciated! Any experiences of where to go/where not to go or any advice in general would be well received. Thanks!

Hello and welcome tydel2k to our site. I have a workmate who target shoots out that way, and seems to enjoy it. Personally I would recommend going to a range like Poco, even though it is getting to be a zoo out there these days. Which gets me to thinking, you bring up a good point. Where to target shoot legally in the lower mainland without getting hassled?

Generally I do go out to a range in PoCo (DVC), but many times I go there (especially Sundays) it's insanely busy.

I haven't yet been able to make it out to PCDHFC, and their memberships kind of don't make sense to sign up mid-year and I don't want to keep paying drop-in fees.

I've seen many posts about Sylvester Road out past Mission, but that's really far .. it's much easier to make a straight shot up the 99 from where I am (Downtown Vancouver).

If you wouldn't mind, could you post where you were out in Boundary Bay on Google Maps? It felt kind of weird shooting where I was, because there were lots of passers by and such.

translation: you can only hunt when waterfowl is in season at least 100m from the dyke towards the water (i.e. outside the dyke). No target shooting.
This applies to all dykes.

Second: The dykes of Boundary Bay Linear Park are closed to hunting. However, the Metro VancouverParks prohibition for the possession of firearms is specifically exempted from toe to toe of the dykes in the Linear Park.

the dyke toe is the lowest part of a dike/dam. Any dyke has 2 toes.
translation: Therefore you can posses firearms on the dyke but can't hunt from the dykes of the linear park. As previously stated, you can't target shoot. Well, you can but it's not advisable.

Any help would be appreciated! Any experiences of where to go/where not to go or any advice in general would be well received. Thanks!
