Hey Gang,
Finally going to get a shooting mat.
Just wondering who is using what.

Is there a good/better/best bag out there?

Just want to buy one and be done with it?

Midway anygood?

Howdy! There are several good threads on here on this exact topic - see either

or (if you're handy with an industrial sewing machine),

Hope this is helpful.

I've got the traditional (?) fold up style in grey coloring with black padded spots for the elbows. It's fine but I tell you what, those black padded spots get uncomfortably hot during our summer shooting season. I suggest one of the newer 'tactical' roll up mats in a desert break up tan or sandy color would be a bit better for high summer shooting.

my two bits only

I have used a Vodoo roll up mat for a number of years. I would stay away from the bag / mat combo's as if the bag /mat gets wet you are putting your rifle into a wet bag to transport.

I also have a Voodoo roll up mat that I received at Christmas, my girlfriend bought it off amazon.com. I've used it a couple times since and it's really nice, it's pretty compact but still offers good protection and comfort. It's just black though so we'll see how hot it gets in summer.

I agree.

I have a mat that's pretty simple and separate. I think it's cheap NCstar as well? One more thing to bring to the range, but my case / bag stays clean and dry. Also sometimes the extra padding is great for those days on rough terrain or snow.

I've borrowed my workout mat to a buddy to shoot on and even use it a bit. Works just fine as well.

I have this
