Is anyone familiar with the shooting range at 11 Gower Road and the clubs that uses it? I don't drive and is the most convenient location for me, but I don't want to sign to a club I don't know nothing about. I wander also which clubs has more affordable membership fees? I'm a newbie, so any advice will be appreciated.

I am very familiar. There are 5 clubs that use it, as well as the owners, The Toronto Revolver Club. TRC is the most expensive I believe. They all I believe make you use a 22 for a long time before you can move to center fire. Also, LEAD only ammo, so you either reload for center fire or you buy Wolf ammo.

I'm looking to buy .22 anyway, but for the type of amo - I'm not sure what you mean.
I know about CFB, Black Spruce Sportsman's, Maple Leaf revolver, Pape Revolver and Toronto Revolver. Do you have any opinion which one would be best for a beginner?

Ammo. Most center fire ammo (so 9mm, 40S&W, 45 ACP) from factory new sources are either Full Metal Jacket, Jacketed Soft Point, or Hollow Point, or versions of those. Other than 38 special, and 45 Colt (probably a few others) there are no factory lead ammo. So, the range is approved for LEAD ammo only. So... if you want to use 9mm or 40 S&W or 45 ACP or 44 Magnum, 357 magnum etc., you will either need to reload your own ammo with lead bullets or buy Wolf Remanufactured Ammo. Wolf makes a great deal of high quality lead ammo.

I am a member of Pape. I have shot there once in the last year (not 2012, but the last 12 months) because I really don't like having to own a 22. If you are brand new and like 22's, they are a good club to start with because they are cheap, and will hold your hand through the CSSA course and all the qualifying shoots to get you going. You can PM me and I will give you the contact info. Their club night is Friday.
