Hi everyone,

I was wondering does anybody know of a place in toronto or surrounding areas no more than 50 km from downtown Toronto, that would let people shoot without a licence under supervision of a licenced gun handler ?? Thanks:)

Everywhere in TO and area they require to be a member of the range, so you can not just "walk-in" from the street with out a membership as far as I know
:runaway:

The only place that's even remotely close is Silverdale Sports Centre, a bit over an hour from Toronto (towards Niagara Falls). $20 gets you a day pass. Haven't been there myself, so I can't comment on the facilities.

Good shooting skills also helps with the vest. Need to get them before they get you. Try not to wear gang colours. You are less visible to the gangs that will shoot back. Oh ya and dont wear any bling!
:50cal:

what do you want to shoot?

SRC does small bore olympic style shooting

Hart House used to let you shoot, but that got killed (dammit)

Best bet, hang out here, make some friends then tag along.

SRC - Scarboro Rifle Club? I think they allowed only single!!! shot .22, i even won't be able to shot my 22 semi-auto :(
I don't think Silverdale is a good option during the winter, brrrr

that is true... but:
there are some very good shooters there in their disciplines.
they are TTC accessible and close to downtown
they let you join and shoot without a PAL (IIRC)
and we don't know what sort of experience the OP was looking for.
This might be exactly what they want.

I might be interested myself in SRC, that is close to my house and good for winter, but i don't have any single shot .22, all of them is semi, is that will be a problem?

Unfortunately, the Ontario CFO will not allow ranges to "rent" firearms out. So ranges are not set up to handle people without a license or without their own gun.

As said above, best bet is to make lots of friends.

The only allow single shot, so semi-auto is out. It's a shame too, because the location is absolutely fantastic.

A full service pistol and rifle range inside Toronto would get a ton of business. Too bad such a beast doesn't currently exist. :(

Well, if you don't have single shot .22? Can y use yr semi to load a single shot or you can rent the single shot .22 from them? How much does it cost if you are not member (like a day pass). Thank you for your info, I checked their web but there is no phone number :runaway:

I was told that it must be a single-shot .22 cal rimfire rifle, a mag-fed semi-auto with just one round in the mag doesn't count (after all, who's to say someone won't load more than one round, either accidentally or intentionally?). On the upside, the club has guns available for members to use and the annual fee is a relatively-cheap $100. Low price, but eventually you're gonna get bored of just .22s and will want to move on to something else, which would require you to shoot elsewhere.

It sounds as though you're looking for an opportunity to be introduced to recreational shooting, but have no licence, no firearms and no shooting acquaintances.

If I were in your position, I would first Google 'Ontario Gun Clubs' and identify the clubs that are operating within the geographic area that you're interested in, then contact those clubs by phone or email to explain your circumstances and interest. I don't think that you'll have a problem arranging to attend a weeknight or weekend 'shoot' when a member of a club's executive or safety committee is available to meet you, discuss the sport and introduce you to the facility (perhaps even allow you to shoot a member's firearm under direct supervision).

Should you enjoy your 'introduction' and wish to shoot on a regular or semi-regular basis, that same club member will be able to provide you with information regarding getting your licence, purchasing a firearm and club membership.

If you're simply looking for a range facility that caters to walk-in 'customers' who want to shoot regularly without a licence and who have no licenced acquaintances (which you would need even to shoot at Silverdale as an un-licenced day pass holder), I don't believe that you'll find such a facility in Ontario, much less in or near the GTA (someone please correct me if I'm mistaken).

All gun clubs in Ontario require a PAL license and a club safety course , some clubs allow members to bring guest and let them shoot under supervision.:D:D

Not all Ontario clubs require members to take a 'club' safety course if the only firearms you'll be shooting are non-restricted.
