I am a memeber at an indoor range in KW and I have mastered the 20 yard rifle shot. I have a farm property that is a 1 1/2 hours away for longer shooting but it seams I am getting out less and less to shoot my long range rifles, wondering if there are any rifle ranges even if its only 100 yards in the kitchener waterloo area. I have been wanting to build a 30 cal long range rifle probally 300 ultra mag for long distance shooting but whats the point if there is no where to practice.

Twin City Rifle Club between Waterloo and Stratford has a 300 yard range and the nicest rifle set up in the area.

I don't have contact info for Twin City. But if your indoor range is Colby then ask the guys in the store and they will be able to help you.

There is also a 200 yard rifle range at Galt Sportsmen's just east of Cambridge. http://www.galtsportsmensclub.com/

That club near Stratford is nice, I was there a week ago for the first time.
There is also the Elmira & District Rod and Gun Club, with a 100yard and a 200yard range.

There is the maryhill rod and gun and bridgeport rod and gun clubs, I was at the marryhill one it looked like a baseball field to me. There was no contact information, there also looks to be a skeet and rifle range near shingletown by baden. they all look abandoned to me.

twin city is nice... I want something i can go on my lunch break... 100 yards is fine for practice if I want to shoot longer i will go to my farm.

The Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club is the one west of Maryhill with the baseball diamonds. It's been a few years since I belonged there but the rifle range was pretty rudimentary. It was 100 yards and two shooters maximum at the time.

I don't recall and it's been a few years. However it was at the time one of the least expensive clubs in the area. The best way to find out is to go out on a Sunday afternoon. That's when trap is shot and some of the club exec should be around.

Bring a shotgun too and give trap a try. You might find a new addiction.:dancingbanana:

I have a nice browning gold I could blow the dust off of... perfect trap gun 28"
you said there are only 2 lanes for shooting how busy was it years back? are there any websites for these small local clubs

I last belonged there in 2000. The rifle range was 100 yards with a small wooden building with two firing benches. I didn't use it much because I also had a membership at Galt Sportsmen's where I did and still do most of my rifle shooting.

You F***ing tease... Do you have any idea how many of us would kill or die to have our own private long range schutzenplatz?

I hate you.:p

Yep I can shoot all the way to 1000 yards, tried with my 223 holding off about 78" couldnt hit the paper and it was 36" by 8ft across... longest successful shooting was at 600 yards with my 700vls stock would keep the shots on a pie plate. I used to go out every saturday when I was still in school but now my job dosnt permit that in the summer I need a local area just to have some fun... I mean shooters choice is great for handguns and my heavly modded 10/22 but for 223 its pointless I can shoot every bullet through the same hole.

I guess the other thing is... galt and twin city you can probally use restricted long guns where maryhill you can't? Thats important to me.

I don't know about Twin City. I believe you can use restricted there but can't say definitively.

Restricted rifles can't be used at Galt on the rifle range but can on the pistol range. Not a big issue really because it's 200 yards as well.

I talked to a guy that was a board memeber and he said if your rifle shooting and some handgun guys come to the range you have to pack in your rifle its a hangun range.

weather or not this is true I don't know. its quite close to my house which would be good.

i am going to check it out this week.
i need to join a range so i can start shooting ipsc again. :)
how was colby?
looks like a nice range
i hear you about the 20 yard thing gets boring after a while
nothing like shooting outdoors.

well ask them if they have a 100 yard spot to shoot full metal jack .223

Might want to check out shooters choice in waterloo there indoor range is much better and heated too. Thats where I am a memeber for handgun shooting.

Its great as long as the opp isnt shooting there, they tear it up. Normally they bust 50% of the lanes some how. I use the range 2 time a week its normally empty.

Yhey have idpa and ipsc on tuseday and wednesday, opp from 8am till 4 on thursday, jr rifle from 7pm to 8pm, 1 friday a month they have idpa competion from 8pm till 6pm saturday. So its a pretty busy place sometime they have brinks guard training on tusedays as well. Its open 24 /7 though

Yep if you were shooting an 80 gr bullet out of you .223 at around 3000fps, sighted in at 100 yards, you would have had to hold high about 345 inches:eek: to get to 1000 yards.
If you could get a 55 gr bullet to make the complete trip (not) at 3200fps you should have been holding 782 inches high:eek:

With 55 gr bullets sighted in at 100 yards and aiming 78" high your rounds where hitting the dirt at about the 500 yard mark.
