How many people out there shoot right handed rifles left handed? I am interested in buying my first rifle in the classifieds, but it is right handed and I am left dominant. How much of a disadvantage is it?

Depends on the rifle, but almost all the time it is completely not an issue.

I'm left hand left eye dominant but I shoot mostly right handed guns perfectly fine, even bolt actions I've figured out a technique that works for me.

I personally train myself to shoot anything either handed, either shoulder either eye.

What gun are you really interested in that has you wondering?

I own left, right, and part-ambi designed guns. I say part-ambi due to ejection side, but right side ejection can also be an advantage.

Depending on the gun, you can modify certain features to allow very easy operation as a lefty. Generally speaking, right handed guns are not really an issue if you practice and figure out a routine to operate the gun.

Ok good. The rifle I was looking at was a NR XCR .223. I just wasn't sure with the shells ejecting to the right. Thanks for the input.

I also shoot mostly right handed rifles left handed. I actually find some rifles ergonomically better for lefties (aside from the safeties)

I'm right handed and left eye dominant.

M14, sks, cz858, mosin, lee einfield, i shoot left handed no problem. You can actually reload faster because your hand never leaves the trigger. The type 97 is not left hand friendly and i am forced to shoot it right handed

Only time I have had trouble was I had to pass on a couple good deals as the stock was made for a right handed person and the roll over comb would have been very painful to shoot. With a semi make sure your wearing long sleeves when you shoot prone or the hot cases burn really well on bare skin.

I shoot left mostly, training myself to shoot right. Haven't had an issue with all righty guns other than the occasional hot case in the crease of my right elbow if I'm wearing a t shirt. Long sleeve shirt eliminates that. I am right handed left eye dominant.

"...How much of a disadvantage is it?..." Except for one of the non-evil bull pups, none. Most semi's will eject the cases way over your shoulder and well into the Twilight Zone. That doesn't matter until you start reloading and really want the cases. You'll be picking 'em up anyway, but you'll care more when you want 'em.
"...reload faster because..." Where your trigger finger is has nothing to do with reloading.
