Shooting "single shot" from rifles designed for magazines

For whatever reason I thought we were talking about a semi automatic. Sorry, my bad.
In light of the new to me bolt action information I say give'r. There is no way you could damage that.
But my opinion still stands for a semi auto. Not a good habit.

agreed, this is about bolt action, not semi-auto. It would defeat the purpose to fire single shot in a semi auto. And I agree it would be a bad habit to bring into centre fire semi auto rifles. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Is there a Canadian dealer for the CZ adapter?

I've had good luck with this 3d printed adapter
https://www.etsy com/ca/listing/513469659/cz-455452-22-lr-single-shot-adapter?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=cz%20452&ref=sr_gallery-1-2

To the OP, if you think CZ 452 magazines are expensive, you might want to stay away from Walther/Sako/Steyr rimfire rifles...

Like ronnie01 mentioned a few posts ago, the RFC guy makes a good adaptor, from nylon of some sort I think. Being naturally thrifty, and handy at times, I made something similar for my 452.
They're not hard to make, the only part that may take some trial and error is the angle of the ramp. You load it into the standard mag like a cartridge, the .22 round sits on the concave top in line with the chamber mouth. When you close the bolt, the top of the adaptor is pushed down by the bolt and slightly compresses the mag follower spring.
While in theory you can simply drop a round on the adapter and close the bolt, I've had better results thumbing the pre-positioned round into the chamber. Less chance of shaving the bullet.
They're not foolproof, unlike a true single shot loading ramp there's not as much concave area to cradle the round. Still a vast improvement over fumbling a single round into the chamber though.

Guys, bought a CZ452 Scout that came with a Single Shot Adapter and would like to have it 3D copied and printed to make 3 more adapters.

Can you recommend a place or shop that can provide that kind of service in the Coquitlam area of Vancouver, BC? Thanks

Any 22lr bolt that has an extractor that pivots outward on a spring, which almost all 22s do (bolt and semi), i cant see it being a problem. Now something that operates like a 1911 extractor (if it even exists in 22lr which I doubt because the cases are shaped differently), would be a different story

Some of the manufs make a dummy mag to allow you to easier feed a single shot. A lot of club guns only allow single shot so that is often done. I have never heard of anyone having a problem with anything doing this. Ever. If nothing else the single shot adapeter makes it simple to shoot a magged gun single shot. Regardless of how you shoot them some have a lifespan of many decades of hard use.
