Shooting Site M14 EBR Trigger/Hammer Review

I recently purchased the M14 EBR Matched Trigger/Hammer set on http://www.shootingsight.com . The trigger/hammer are matched together, and the trigger has two set screws. One for adjusting the creep on the second stage, and the other adjusts the pull weight of the second stage. This set isn't cheap, 250 USD including shipping, but I have to say it's pretty sweet. The ability to adjust and tune the trigger is fantastic, and it really does break like glass. Some of the threads looking kind of stripped in the photo, but I want to say there all fine. I don't know how well this would work in a Norinco, but they strongly recommend a USGI trigger body.

I haven't tested it at the range yet but it passes the function test. I also want to measure the trigger pull and make sure it's above 4.5 lbs before I shoot it. But I have to say, it's a good trigger.

Oh, and this review is strickly my opinion, i'm not shilling for them.





 
Thanks for that. I've used H20MAN's trigger shoe setup, so I know how much nicer this style of trigger
is in a pistol grip stock, like an EBR or an E2. Question; is the trigger available on its own or just in a set with the hammer?
 
A customer of mine shipped me one (just the trigger) with a build, and it made a noticeable difference.

I would imagine that the trigger/hammer combo would make an already nice upgrade fantastic!

Take up on the 1st stage so that the break and second stage is shorten by the addition of set screw...
Is that what they did here?
Also isn't it true that most trigger hooks on the Norcks are never true and the crude machining marks leave you with a strong gritty feeling. So by adding this it will get ride of it all for $250 USD plus shipping and the rest of the jazz?
 
I bought the hammer and trigger for my M305 build, but the hammer would not function in my trigger group, safety would not engage, and secondary sear would not engage so it would have gone full auto. I am sure if you had a USGI trigger group you would have no problem. I just removed the hammer and put back in my factory hammer and the trigger group functioned perfectly. I just put about 50 rounds down range with the new trigger and it is fantastic, i set my trigger pull is down to 3lbs 8 ounces and it worked flawlessly
 
They specifically say you need to put the trigger and hammer into a USGI trigger group. I don't know what sort of fitting would be required to get it to work in a norinco trigger housing.
 
The triggesr are sold separately, as well as with hammer. The advantage of the hammer is lock time, because it is lighter than factory hammer, he says about 25% faster than stock hammer. But the hammer has nothing to do with how the trigger works
