Hey guys,

Can I shoot slugs through a stock remington 870 super magnum barrel?

My buddy has a Mossberg that says right on the barrel "DO NOT SHOOT SLUGS".

Mine doesn't so it should be fine.

Thanks

I've got the same gun, other than a swollen middle finger from the trigger guard slamming it, I've never had a problem with slugs, or buckshot. Fire Away!

<------ There it is :D

Might have to change the choke. They come with a modified in em. You need an IC for slugs

Steel is way harder than a lead slug, the lead just gets squeezed harder with a tighter choke, making it less pleasant to shoot. But it won't break anything unless the choke says "no slugs" on it.

what the poster above says is true, you could theoretically shoot a foster type slug NOT SABOT through a full choke barrel, some actually shoot better that way. However, this is not recommended for most, higher barrel presures basically. Foster type slugs are made smaller on purpose to accomodate different choke sizes. If youve ever taken a look at a foster type slug while not encassed in a shell, they basically look like a tennis ball cut in half with rifling on the outside, I.E. easily compressible. Do not fret if you dont have a cylinder choke, you should be able to shoot successfully through the whole gamit, however i probably wouldnt shoot them through an old beater with a full choke.

have at it, happy shooting
