After quite a few months of gathering things up I finally got the 45-70 out yesterday. The barrel is a 12 inch with a brake bought from a fellow member in here (444shooter),the pachmayr grip from another member in here(rthook) ( in the below pic that ISNT the pach grip,its original contender) and a shell holder for free from (colinjw) Thanks to all the members for helping me finally get 1 put together....an I just love it!!
The original load would have a 350 grainer at 1450FPS or so,but after shooting the dominator with a 130 at well over 2300 FPS I thought I better drop the load down to about 1200 FPS or so just for a trial basis.After shooting it and getting in on paper so to speak now I am comfy to take it up to the 1400-1500 FPS area. Recoil right now feels like a stiff load out of a 500SW...but that's subjective as always. I also have a whole wack of 405 grain jacketed slugs to play with , that should open up a whole new realm of fun in a handgun.I only did up 10 rounds just to get it on paper and get a vid of it...so sadly I cant post target results...but a vid is better then nuthin!! Enjoy..
