Very interesting. I have always been interested in the EM2 and the .280 round and I had never heard that.

That was Individual Weapon 4.85mm the real father of the known SA80. Actually a more powerful round than the 5.56mm which we are looking for today.

Collector Grade Publications published a book on the EM-2 Concept and Design for those who are interested in more information about the rifle. Also the Forgotten Weapons Site has a lot of information on different firearms which is worth spending time exploring.

It does underline the fact that the puny 7mm will tend be less useful on full auto than the puny 5.56, you can't have it both ways. Nice gun though!
