I am fairly new to rifle shooting, and have bought myself a 22-250. I have put about 300 rounds through it so far. and have learned that at a bench on a bipod that my left had is better suited holding the butt of the stock then having it in the "traditional" spot.

And I am getting better at losing the "flinch"
But I figure there has to be other tips and tricks that an experianced shooter can help a noob with. So if you can please share :)

Watch your breathing, watch the wind, and watch you follow through after the trigger breaks.
Follow the bullet right into the target, untill that happens the shot saequence is not finished!

When you set up, get on target and then closiung your eyes, relax.
Open them up, and if the rifle is not on target, move your body till it is.
Make sure the bipod is nopt stressed when you do this.
Repeat the eyes closed thing and check again.
Then when the shopt breaks there is less chance of the rifle moving off target from your nerves while the bullet is heading down the barrel.
That should keep you occupied for a bit....!:)

Hey d00d hows that .22-250 doin for ya anyways????

Its great, I really like it :)
Cant wait to get it out to a field somewhere though. Getting tired of 40 yards. Although sometimes I have a hard time making dime sized groups at that range even :O

What do you mean follow through though? as soon as it goes bang I cant see the target because of recoil, I have been trying to ease into the trigger more then gerk it, thats been my biggest problem. and then I get to the point where I hold my breath and think about the shot too much and my heart beat starts to feedback through the scope, lol.

GET OUT THERE!!
Don't worry about shooting teeny little groups at short range, if you are confortable go to 100 , 200, 300 etc.
You will see the groups shrink eventually.

Relax and keep concentrating on the target image even when the rifle recoils the actual target out of view.
When the rifle comes back to rest, you should be pointing right at the target.
Breathe easily and normally, holding your breath is not a good thing!

Get the second pad on your trigger finger on the trigger, not the tip. This allows for a straighter pull back not to the side. Squeeze your whole hand, not just your finger when the scope is on the center of the target. The breaking of the shot should be a surprise.
Double up on the hearing protection, plugs and muffs will reduce the anticipation of the shot and stop you from jerking the trigger to get it away quickly. Get a rear bag to go under the butt and squeeze it to make minor elevation adjustments.

well if you're shooting at the Phoenix Range..they sell memberships to the Sherwood Park Fish & Game Assoc. Range.....$70/year..shoot all you want...targets to 300 meters....30 minute drive from the Phoenix Range...about 30 minutes from my house too:D

one of the most over looked modificication in my opinion is the trigger
If it is light and 0 creep your shooting will improve i have my 250 set at just under 2 lb and no creep it reallly helps not to change your gun while you squeeze the trigger
most factory triggers can be ajusted easily by your self
and good reloads are good as gold and completely needed if your worried about itty bitty groups

I will get out there soon :)
I have the single set trigger, so if I push it forward its a few ounce trigger, and if it moves at all befor it goes bang I cant tell. most of the time it is a surprise to me though, but sometimes i grab the trigger, and it throughs off my shot.
