I,m not sure how to explain this but Iwill give it a try. if you shoot at a target 150yds away up hill or down hill, and the target is only 100yds away if brought straight down to your level, then the bullet will travel 150yds, up or down but only drop the same amount as in 100yds of level flight. clear as mud? I hope is some help.

Aim low up hill, aim low downhill.

The amount is almost negligible for hunting situations on average size game unless you are at steep angles.

Horizontal distance to target is all that matters.

In actuality firing uphill increases bullet drop, and downhill dreases bullet drop. Angles are not as much about bullet drop difference as it is line of sight difference. The lessened or increased drop due to gravity is negligible for most hunting distances.

What about a short ranges, like 20 yds from you treed stand? (up 15ft)
Let's say, a guy wanted to shoot the eye out of a deer form that range (not condoning that shot placement by the way)

The biggest problem your going to have shooting from a tree stand isn't wether you're shooting downhill, but the amount of height your scope crosshairs are over the bore and the range you're sighted for.

20 yards or so isn't a problem with body shots on deer and larger animals unless you're going for a neck or head shot.
When you're very close, the distance between the center of the bore and the crosshairs can be critical.

In many cases, especially with 50mm objective lenses, the crosshair can be 3-4cm above the bore. Therefore the point of impact can be up to 4cm low.

I was aware of this... but funny thing with my two rifles...
Tikka T3 Lite 22-250 W/ 5-15X50 scope and a Tikka T3 Lite 7mm-08 W/ 2.5-10X40
I have practised a bit at 20 yds and when compensating for the height of the scope, I ended up shooting exactly where the crosshairs were pointed?? It still doesn't make sense to me but that's what it does. My scopes are both sighted 1.5" high at 100.

Bullets will usually cross your line of sight twice, once at about 20 yards and again at 150 yards.
