Shooting vest.

I am thinking of having a shooting vest made. I am one size over what Browning and all the others offer. I found a place in the US that carries they size I need but shipping is worth more than the vest. I have a contact from a place I used to work that does commercial sewing and may be able to get one made.

So, what do you like about the vest you currently wear and what don't you like? If you could have one custom made, what would you want it to include? Are there any features that would be specific for different disciplines, trap, skeet, sporting clays?

Get back pockets, a good fit where weight is off the shoulder, and a nice slick/stiff pad where the gun stock sits.

But lately I've been switching to a belt pouch and like it a lot more.

I have two Wild Hare vests I bought from BigCamo.com. I think they were $80 U.S each. I had mine shipped to a friend in the lower 48 and he brought them up with him when he came up hunting. I also sometimes ship items to him and he then ships them U.S.P.S declared as gifts with a value of no more than $10. Never once had to pay duties etc..

My wife and I got jackets, and she was fitted for a vest from Shoot The Moon, they are based on Colorado. I will say the jackets are fantastic! Sizing is perfect, and (cheesy but) "built for shooters, by shooters", tight in the right spots, loose in the right spots, and very warm. My wife says the same about her vest.

I use a vest for shooting trap but have slowly gotten use to wearing a belt pouch and hull bag. Definitely get zippers put in on the bottom of the pouch that you put hulls in. That saves so much time and hassle which is why I went to the belt pouch.

I really only use my vest when shooting lots (300 rounds a day) and shooting doubles to hold 2 boxes of shells.

Thanks for the input guys. I ended up at the Hanley sporting grounds for a fundraising shoot today and they are now carrying the Wild Hare line of gear. I bought the Heat Wave mesh vest and the premium tournament shooting bag. I shot with the vest today and am very happy with it.

That's what I have, two of the heat wave vests. Seem to be well made and are comfortable.
