Shooting With my Daughter for Family Day/Wknd

Its family day long weekend. Who is taking their youngsters out for the first time shoot?
My daughter and I are going to shoot our pellet guns today. It is her first time shooting, shes 7, and I think shes more excited than I get when I shoot! lol. If you are wondering why I'm using pellet guns, she doesn't quite understand all the rules and saftey aspects behind a firearm, so pellet guns are a little safer in my eyes for first time shooting. I learned with one and teaching kids how to plink will keep them coming back for more as we all strive for that perfect shot. happy shooting 'all! :)
 
Good to hear your getting your daughter involved in the sport!

I recently took my girlfriend out to get her into it. (No kids of my own yet) I brought along my 10/22 and my Remington 700 SPS 308. I showed her how to use the 22 and she was actually pretty good. we spent a couple hours setting up targets and some clay pigeons to shoot at. Then i took several shots with the 308 and asked if she wanted to try. She was timid at first and then said ok. Well after her first shot she'd had enough with the 22 and I couldn't get her off my 308! LOL!!!

Every once in a while I take my oldest son with me to the rifle range when I go. He's 7 now, but was only 5 the first time I let him shoot my .22... I set up the steel silhouettes at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards... the little bugger was a natural... I think he missed his first couple shots and then after that he was dead on.
Every kid should have a chance at shooting... he or she may not turn out to like it, but they should at least be able to try.
 
had a great time shooting with my girl!! shes pretty good for her first time, got 2 dead centre in a 3/4" circle. targets were @ 45 toe to toe paces (so about 50' cause i have big feet), 15km gusting to about 20km E Wind, shooting prone from a rolled up towel. she wanted to shoot as soon we started watching Canada in the Rough. they were shooting prarie dogs, Thomas was with his daughter, so mine wanted to shoot with me. being a dad is so cool!
 
shot yesterday with my 15 and 13 year olds.It is not a first time thing though,they shoot later this week at the Saskatchewan Winter games.

Hope they do well there! Are they doing the biathlon, or air rifle events? My target rifle coach also coaches the Moose Jaw biathlon team.
