Shooting without the cleaning rod (SKS)

It doesn't screw back in... Sometimes they are difficult to get back in, just mess around with it...

Cheers

For some reason i cant screw the cleaning rod back into the rifle. Will this affect the accuracy of my sks?

The SKS is a finely designed and manufactured firearm. As you probably know, it comes complete with everything you need to shoot and maintain it, including the cleaning kit in the butt, and that pesky cleaning rod you mentioned. Everything is there for a reason. That cleaning rod doubles as a barrel vibration damper, and thus is absolutely essential for decent accuracy.

If you really need to shoot your SKS without the cleaning rod, I suggest removing the cleaning kit from the butt to maintain perfect balance. That way you are guaranteed 12 inch 3-shot groups at 50 ft, from the bench of course.:D:dancingbanana:

>just kidding....your SKS will not care.

My cleaning rod and bayonet are long gone and I can shoot 4" groups at 100 yards with iron sights. I can't get it to shoot any better.

Maybe with the cleaning rod it'll shoot MOA? :D;)
