Shopping time - Looking for pistol feedback

G17s are cheap as hell right now - in fact Questar's got a sale on that's amazing, or if you can get one from Police Ordnance under their Mil/LE pricing it's a good deal as well. I have one and love it, it groups really well, fits the hand nicely, got extra mags cheap. I have an M&P .40 on the way (because I have a fairly reliable source of cheap .40) which I'm looking forward to after shooting one at my club today. I'm looking to get into IPSC/IDPA as well, and production class. Those fancy "race guns" just don't do it for me, I'm much more about the practical, what (insh'allah) I'll be able to carry concealed some day...
 
It all depends on what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend. If you want to go in to IPSC the sky's the limit on cost and features. If you are just informal target shooting and don't want to break the bank there are lots of good deals on used CZ 75 pistols in 9mm. You could do a lot worse!
 
The 1911 Kimber will give you the best trigger feel, and as you mention cool factor, well, I think the Kimber has you covered there as well.

And of course, 45ACP is the coolest of them all.
