Short 458 Winchester

I had a Remington 600 in .458 Alaskan, which if I recall correctly, is 458 X 1 1/2". It was a neat toy, but here on Vancouver Island, couldn't really find anything to shoot with it.

SS - Why wouldn't you just buy a Rem model 7 CDL in 350 Rem Mag and be done with it? Another option is a 7600 in 35 Whelen .... with plastic furniture and cut to 18" inches it would be a pretty nice set-up. as well the detachable magazine is nice if you are getting in and out of a vehicle frequently....with either the 225 gr Partition or 250 grn RN you won't have to feel "inferior"

Wow a .458 Alaskan was a rimmed, blown out, .348 Winchester!
This a single shot rifle? Or was it a .458 American X 2 inch wildcat?
If it is this calibre, its by two inches not 1 1/2.
458 X 1 1/2,would be really neat!

I have in my gun locker a Mauser in this 458 American.

I had the same thought once

That's funny Andy, I was tempted to turn mine into a winchester magnum, as well.

The only thing that stopped me was that this rifle shoots really well.
Plus, I do not trust myself & I guess I am happy with it as is...
