There are 22 handguns with 4" barrels and they work but I haven't read about there accuracy compared to a rifle.
Going from a factory 18.5" barrel down to a 8" or 10" barrel.
How greatly would my accuracy be effected? I'd be shooting up to 75yds.
Thanks for your time answering!

The Swedish ammo tests are easily found, but for immediate utility, a Walthers GSP match pistol will produce 50yard groups about double the size of a match rifle using the same ammo. The ammo is far more critical than barrel length for intrinsic accuracy.

I've done abit more digging, and it sound like ammo and chamber size make the big difference.
So for shooting shorter distances, having a shorter barrel isn't a horrible thing, just means the bullet will drop faster.

I don't know why this myth is still perpetuated. Its bulls**t. Barrel length only affects practical accuracy at the fringe of its limits. Competition rifles (center fire that is) rely on the slight velocity gain of 30"+ barrels to help flatten the trajectory that little bit more at very long range. This translates into less POI shift resulting from shooter error. In competition you need every edge you can get because the shooters are good and so are their rifles. Comparing pistol accuracy to rifle accuracy is like comparing a dragster to a F1 car on a road course. Accuracy loss is not even close to a reality with short barrel .22s. Barrel and ammo quality are what decides accuracy. Most subsonic ammo reaches max velocity in 12-16" of barrel. Even an 8" can do very well.
