Well I have been searching for a while tonight and just cant seem to find the answers to help me decide what I want to do. I have a fairly new 870 express laminate 28" VR barrel and ever since last summer when I first seen this thread http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=165801 on mr00jimbo's 18inch that he put laminate stocks on I have wanted one of my own.
My delema is that I dont know if I should get an 18 inch barrel from somewhere and install it when I want to carry the shorter gun or even if an 18 barrel from the factory 870 syntehtic express will fit because the barrel lug looks like it is in a different place. Or is that just an optical illusion?
I have heard that getting another barrel could cost me almost a much as a new gun and this year I'm getting married in June so the money is gonna be tight and I'd like to go the cheapest route. But my other option is to just buy and new 18 inch synthetic and then look around for a set of laminate stocks like mr00jimbo did.
What do ya'll think?
P.S. I wont mind switching the barrel if I do decide to just have one gun because I'll probably just keep the short barrel on it most of the time for rabbits and grouse in the tight woods near my house. If I decide that I want to go shoot some clays or ducks. I can switch it over then, not really a big deal.
