If I was looking for a Semi-Automatic, short barreled (18.5 inches or less) shotgun, what would be a few I could look for? Please post specs, sources and possible costs as well to be helpful! I have a friend interested as well as myself.

I personally own a 1918ish Remington Model 10 cut down to guard prisoners, but I was considering a semi-auto. I would prefer wood and steel, not plastic or it's synonyms. Older is ok!

Cheers,

...more than 5 rounds and a semi-auto shotgun becomes Restricted.

My understanding is that a magazine designed for a semi-automatic, center-fire rifle or shotgun, with a capacity greater than 5 rounds, is classified as prohibited under the current rendition of our wonderful Firearms Act... Seeing as the magazine is directly attached to the firearm in this case, I would imagine the local authorities wouldn't look to kindly on it, and would probably confiscate the whole thing.

In any event, I agree... if you want semi-auto, your choices are limited. If you're willing to go with a pump, you've got a lot more possibilities for short shotguns, although you may have to deal with decreased ammunition capacity (in a tube magazine).

short semi shotty

Yer restricted to 5 shots with the semi so any barrel shorter than the standard mag tube length isn't possible on a conventional design.

A 5 shot semi tactical shotty will get your reloading skills up to snuff anyway!lol

the magazine is limited to five rounds on a semi but the gun is not limited. i can load seven rounds in a semi and still be legal.correct me if i am wrong .

In other words you may load a semi-auto long gun with 5 rounds in the magazine of the type of ammunition it was designed to discharge.

A gun that is made to discharge 3" shells would be allowed to contain a maximum of FIVE 3" shells in the magazine, but it may also legally contain SIX 2-3/4" shells because that's how many shells fit in that tube. Or more if the shells are shorter.

Hunting regulations are a different animal.

to reply to easy i was thinking of five in the mag one in the chamber and a round on the lifter .i had not given any thought to shorter shells even though i have experienced a pump gun that i own will hold an extra shell in the mag if i use 2.3/4 versus 3 inch shells .thanks for a different slant on our confusing firearm laws .
