Hey,

Looking to get a short dot.

Elcan Specter dr 1-4? around 2000$

S&B short dot 3000$.

or any other nikon, or leupold 1-4 short dots for around $500 worth it?

Which one should I get if I do not have tax payers military funding?

I just want to make my ar15 multi role. from door kicking to anti sniper or sniper setup. Max range 500 meters.

Eye relief is biggest problem on these. I would like to figure out which ones is the best compromise for price and quality between top dollar ones to cheapest ones on the market.

I may be stoned for suggesting this buuut....

I have a Bushnell banner 1-4 circle-x reticle. I haven't shot with it yet (just got it yesterday) but I will take it out tomorrow and let you know how I like it. So far it seems to do what I want it to and it was under $100 brand new.

I lol'd at both posts in this thread.

Vortex or Falcon in the 1-5 range would work okay if you aren't using it for war. Even with a good mount you are looking at $500-$600. Maybe the new VX-R's?

Swfa 1-4 is what you want.
Daylight bright illumination, high quality glass, mil/mil reticle and turrets.
First focal plane so the reticle looks kind of eotech-ish on 1 power and becomes a hash mark style mil reticle on 4 power.
Best bang for the buck in 1-4's, many 1-4's that cost more than the swfa aren't as good.
Next step up is the s&b short dot.

ACOG TA01 NSN or any ACOG with a piggy back with a red dot is the only way to rock with your AR

With a flick of your head you are good to go and will shave time off your short to medium range targets.

I love my elcan spectre DR (1-4X, 5.56mm), the thing is built like a tank yes its is on the heavy side compare to a AGOG but you do not need to change your cheek weld to have a red dot type sight. just be careful with the objective lens DO NOT use lens pens on them water and a CLEAN soft cloth works fine.

So lets get this right...
You find that taking your eyes off target and switching a lever is quicker than canting your head?
I wonder why than the new ElCan's come with the piggy back feature than to?

I've done it enough times to know where the switch is and not take my eyes off just muscle memory. and that is a interesting setup seems like triple redundancy or quadruple if you also have BUIS.
