I want a short double 12 gauge, no external hammers not something expensive.
I have been looking on the Tradex site and see they have lots of old doubles that run between $160- $200 which is about what I want to pay as long as they are 2.75" chambers does anyone see why I could not cut these down to 18.75" barrel and be ok to shoot slugs and buckshot.
I know I can get the Dominion Outlaw but I do not want the exposed hammers.

I am not a double expert by any means, but I think it would depend how well the rib was soldered to the barrels if at all, and not sure if they would be properly regulated to ht more or less in the same spot. Watch the EE sometimes a hamerless coach gun shows up. I had 20 ga once, while fun to carry I found it very whippy on flushing birds and often over swung.

Look into Boito SxS with 20" barrels. These don't have external hammers. Built in Brazil at the same factory as IGA and Stoeger.

Cutting a double requires a smithy who knows how. Like iceman2 says, the barrels and ribs aren't necessarily attached over the whole length. The ribs may be not be metal at all. It's certainly not something done with a hack saw or chop saw.
Remember that for $160 to $200 you don't get quality. The Stoegers are reasonably good quality.
