I picked up 2 NEA uppers over the last couple months and ive noticed that they have the same neat looking muzzle brakes on them.
or maybe they are better called flash hiders?
not sure.

but what i did notice is that they both have threading down at the base of them.
when i started looking around to see what that was for i found that some people are running mini shrouds over their brakes/flash hiders.

so this is a thing?

i guess my next question is since NEA is making this on their generic muzzle brake do they offer a little 3" shroud anywhere for sale?

and since my google-fu did not show me and NEA mini shrouds does anyone else make them?

i kinda want to pick up a couple now.

visual aid?

of course!

Suppressor mount?

if you put a mini-shroud on it wouldn't it reduce its effectiveness? Maybe to make it less noisy at the range?

Not sure I really understand why they would offer a short shroud for a flash hider, more likely for a suppressor so looks cool but useless for most of us.
The ones I have seen that use the short shroud are the muzzle devices that are a very effective brake so that when you're outside shooting away from the bench (no one sitting right next to you in the blast zone) you remove it and feel less recoil but at the table or indoors you put it on to save yourself and others the concussion headache. Most of those seem to be quite expensive though and I really see little point to them. If I run a brake on a rifle I want it to function not have it neutralized by the shroud and if I want it quieter I install a linear comp or a flash hider. Perhaps if it was someone who shoots indoors and outdoors regularly it would make more sense but for me I have no use for it, just more weight and money on the muzzle.

Thank You!

that was exactly what i was talking about!
hahaha!

i knew they had to make one, i even spent 10 minutes on their site entering stuff into the search looking for those!

ok, well im cheap and im not gonna pay $120 for one of those, but at least now i know what they are and what they do.
