22" barrel for an 1985 is huge to me and the rifle is physically too big for my likings. For a lever action I want it more cowboy like, shorter. I've seen lever actions at the gun store that look almost restricted cause they're so short but never bothered to check 'em out.

Anybody know of any non-.22 "shorter" lever actions?

I guess the Marlin 1895CB .45-70 would be monstrous then, eh? Are you thinking about the Winchester M94 "Trapper" w/16" barrel? Or the Marlin 1895G "Guide Gun" series? I believe the Marlin 1894 series in pistol calibers may also fit the bill for small framed shooters. Google is your friend...

thanks! I shall look into them! Not that the 1895 is physically too large for me to handle, it's that I find more appeal in the shorter ones. If I could I would love to find a short one in 45/70.
